We had arrived at a campsite.  This was a scheduled stop and we were happy to notice the mules on the track, for we knew that if engine failed they could pull us into town.
Down from the hills on horseback rode three guys in red.  Were they bandits?  Were they Indians attacking?  No!, they were bow hunters with their bows at the ready.

The train was slowing down and we were hoping that there was not another delay,
but the train had reached Silverton and had been slowing to a stop in the middle of the town on the main street. Apparently, in the old days, the trains went down the main street of a town.

There goes mom. She looks cold; maybe seven hours on a train at temperatures a little above freezing were responsible.
We made it to the restaurant and were very happy, since it was  heated and the food was warm.
